In this article, we will explore a ritual that celebrates the arrival of spring…
…and empowers your Solstice Pendant with energy, which you can utilize when you need an extra boost.
This ritual is most effective around Ostara, but with minor adjustments, it can also be performed during midsummer, Mabon, and Yule.
I appreciate this ritual as it charges your Solstice Solar Cross with solar energy that can provide that needed “kick-start”.
Step #01: Cleanse Your Solar Cross
The first step involves placing your Solar Cross outdoors under the moonlight the night before you perform the ritual.
This will cleanse the crystal of any negative energy. It’s not an issue if the moon isn’t visible; the light will still penetrate.
(NOTE: You can also use a Pentacle necklace in place of a solar cross)
Step #02: Go Outside
On the morning of Ostara (it doesn’t have to be the exact day, just as near to Ostara as possible), step outside as early as you can to catch the sunrise. Ensure that you wear your Solstice Solar Cross.
Take a moment to absorb the refreshing and invigorating energies of spring.
Breathe in the air and notice the seasonal shifts.
Honor the winter that has just passed, and embrace the spring that is arriving.
Step #03: The Ritual
Light a candle, preferably green or white—avoid black ones.
Place your Solstice Solar Cross beside the candle, ensuring that the candle does not cast a shadow over the pendant (you want it to soak up the sunlight).
You can recite a prayer, a poem, or simply enjoy a moment of silence.
Personally, I like to say something similar to this:
Farewell to wintry spirits and friends;
On morrow we greet the spirits of spring.
Our blessings to thee as your way you wend;
And merry we’ll meet next winter again.
Stay still in the morning sun, allowing the rays to recharge both you and your pendant.
Spend several minutes here, reflecting on winter while welcoming the arrival of spring.
Spring is an ideal time for new beginnings, so think about what you wish to start this season.
Finally, extinguish the candle and say: Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again!
Your ritual has concluded; however, keep your Solstice Solar Cross in the sun.

If you reside in an apartment or another location where you cannot leave it outside, simply place it in your window so the sun can charge it.
If you are outdoors, wearing it on your person is a great option too.
Regardless of what you choose, it’s crucial that it stays in the sunshine for as much of the day as possible.
At this stage, it holds minimal energy (because you allowed it to absorb the moonlight).
By doing this with your Solstice Solar Cross, you infuse it with vibrant new energy from the sun…
…which you can tap into whenever you feel low or fatigued.
It is especially beneficial if you plan to embark on a new habit or venture. It brings passion, energy, and strength!
If you don’t have one yet, you should certainly consider acquiring one.
This is a very nice ritual, do you have a ritual for Lughnassadh?
We actually have written a short guide on Lughnasadh. You can grab it here (free):

I hope that helps 🙂
I have a problem with this. What about us pagans who live in south of the equator? The seasons are opposite here than in the north. Meaning during Ostaria it’s actually about to be Autumn here…
