In this post we’ll look at a ritual, that greets the spring welcome…
…and charge your Solstice Pendant with energy, which you can use to get “boosted” when you need it the most.
The ritual is best just around Ostara, but with slight modifications you can perform at midsummer, Mabon and Yule as well.
I like this ritual because it also charges your Solstice Solar Cross with Sun energy that you can use when you need a little “kick-start”.
Step #01: Cleanse Your Solar Cross
The very first thing you should do is to leave your Solar Cross out in the moonlight the night before you do the ritual.
That’ll cleanse the crystal of any bad energy. It doesn’t matter if you can see the moon or not. The light will get through.
(NOTE: Sometimes, you can also use a Pentacle necklace instead of a solar cross)
Step #02: Go Outside
Next, on the morning of Ostara (it doesn’t have to be on that exact date, just as close to Ostara as possible), go outside as early as possible. You want to catch the sunrise. Be sure to wear your Solstice Solar Cross.
Take a few moments and feel the cleansing and energizing energies of the spring.
Smell the air and the changes in the seasons.
Appreciate the winter that has just been and welcome the spring that’s on it’s way.
Step #03: The Ritual
Light a candle. Green or white is best. Don’t use a black one.
Lay you Solstice Solar Cross down besides the candle. Make sure the candle doesn’t cast a shadow over the pendant (you want the solar rays to hit it).
Say a prayer or a poem or simply stand in silence.
I personally like to say something like this:
Farewell to wintry spirits and friends;
On morrow we greet the spirits of spring.
Our blessings to thee as your way you wend;
And merry we’ll meet next winter again.
Now just stand or sit in the morning sunlight. Let the rays of the sun charge you and your pendant.
Sit here for a few minutes, while you appreciate and think of the winter and welcome the spring.
The spring is the perfect time for when you want to start something new, so think about what you could begin with this spring.
Finally, blow out candle and say: Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again!
The ritual is over and you go inside again, but leave you Solstice Solar Cross in the sun.

If you live in an apartment or somewhere else and cannot leave it outside, just lay it in your window so the sun will charge it.
If you are going to be outside, you can also wear it on you instead.
Whatever you do, it’s important that it stays in the sun as much as possible for the rest of the day.
At this point, it has little or no energy (because you left it in the moonlight).
When you do this to your Solstice Solar Cross, you charge it with fresh new energy from sun…
…which you can use whenever you feel down or are fatigued.
It’s also REALLY good if you are going to start a new habit or something like that. It’ll give passion, energy and strength!
So if you don’t already have one, you should definitively consider getting one.
This is a very nice ritual, do you have a ritual for Lughnassadh?
We actually have written a short guide on Lughnasadh. You can grab it here (free):

I hope that helps 🙂
I have a problem with this. What about us pagans who live in south of the equator? The seasons are opposite here than in the north. Meaning during Ostaria it’s actually about to be Autumn here…
