Possessing a crystal ball says a lot about your character and your values. Not everyone includes one in their home, signifying that you have something unique. Having a crystal ball suggests you are laid-back, grounded, and peaceful, wouldn’t you agree? However, the way you maintain your crystal ball also reflects who you are. If your crystal ball sits among dusty books or children’s toys, then what purpose does it serve?
A crystal ball is a vital tool for Pagans, as you might already know. It acts as a communication device, forming a link between you and the Divine. Therefore, this is absolutely not an item to treat lightly!
There are two essential actions to take— CLEAN and CLEANS!
Cleaning pertains to the physical aspect, while Cleansing addresses the spiritual or metaphysical aspect. You clean to eliminate dirt, but you cleanse to rid it of unwanted negativity.
When properly cared for, your crystal ball will illuminate your home, altar, and space while warding off negativity!
CLEANING
- Begin the cleaning process by placing the stopper in your sink.
- Line your sink with a towel, then fill it with water (if you can use natural water like rainwater, that would be fantastic!), enough to fully submerge your crystal ball.
- Add two tablespoons of sea salt into the water and stir to dissolve.
- Submerge your crystal ball in the water and let it sit for 24 hours.
- Afterward, take the crystal ball out and dry it with a lint-free cloth.
- Return it to its base or storage area, and cover it with a dark cloth.

CLEANSING
- For cleansing your crystal ball, utilize incense such as sage, frankincense, or sandalwood to smudge.
- Ignite the incense and set it in a holder next to your crystal ball.
- Take the incense and move it over your crystal ball, allowing the smoke to envelop it.
- When you feel it has received enough smoke, put out the incense.
- Wipe the crystal ball with a lint-free cloth.

STORAGE
Crystal balls are ideally kept on their stands. However, there may be times when you want to stow them for safety, which is perfectly fine. Just ensure that you place them in a box or secure cabinet where they won’t come into contact with other objects that might break, scratch, or dirty them. It is best to wrap your crystal ball in a soft cloth for added protection while stored.
Treat your crystal ball with the same care as you would other cherished items, such as your altar tools or that one thing your mother left you before she passed. If you are fortunate enough to own one, then cherish the opportunity to care for it! 🙂
