A brief overview of the Wheel of the Year

The eight Wiccan Sabbats are special celebrations in the Wiccan practice. They mark important points in the Wheel of the Year. Each Sabbat has its own meaning and energy.

Let’s explore each Sabbat and see why they matter to us.

1. Samhain

Samhain is celebrated on October 31st. It is the Wiccan New Year! This is a time to remember those who have passed. We honor their memory and feel connected to the spirit world.

2. Yule

Yule falls on the Winter Solstice, around December 21st. It is a celebration of the return of the sun. We light candles and decorate with evergreens to bring joy and light during the dark days.

3. Imbolc

Imbolc is celebrated on February 1st. It marks the halfway point between winter and spring. We celebrate the first signs of new life and renew our energy for the coming year.

4. Ostara

Ostara happens around March 21st, during the Spring Equinox. It’s a time for planting seeds and growth. We celebrate balance and fertility, as day and night are equal.

5. Beltane

Beltane is celebrated on May 1st. It is a joyful festival of love and fertility. We dance around the Maypole and celebrate life with flowers and fire.

6. Litha

Litha, or Midsummer, is on June 21st. It is the longest day of the year. We celebrate the sun at its peak. It’s a time for abundance, joy, and magical energy.

7. Lammas

Lammas, or Lughnasadh, falls on August 1st. It is the first harvest festival. We give thanks for the abundance of grains and fruits. This is a time of sharing and gratitude.

8. Mabon

Mabon is celebrated on September 21st, during the Autumn Equinox. It is a time of balance again as we gather the harvest. We reflect on what we have and prepare for the colder months.

Wheel of the Year
