Make Your Own Spell in 4 Easy Steps

Here at the Moonlight Family, we often get questions about how to do specific spells…

Love spells, protection spells, spell for luck, spells for money. You name it!

It would probably be easiest to just write down a bunch of spells and put them all into an ebook. But…

…a spell becomes much stronger when you make it yourself!

So, how about I tell you how to make your own spells instead.

I am not saying this is the only way… I am not even saying this is the best way…

…this is just how I do it – more or less 🙂

It’s a simple 4 step process and it doesn’t really require anything.

I like to wear my Pentacle of Spells, but that’s not a must. I just find it helps me focus my energies.

Anyway, here we go:

STEP 01: What do you want?

First you need to clarify what it is that you want. What’s the purpose of the spell?

There’s no such thing as a cure-all spell. Are you looking for a new job or maybe the love of your life? Do you want more money or do you want to get rid of something?

Make it as clear as possible and in a single sentence if possible. For example: “This spell will help me attract true love”.

STEP 02: What do you need?

Next step is to figure out and decide what materials you’ll use in your spell. Herbs, candles and sometimes stones are usually good choices. Other things like feathers, jewelry and even things like an old CD, a piece of clothing or a kitchen knife can work very well…

Remember that spells are very much about symbolism, so if a pair of old sneakers has a special meaning for you, you may want to include them in your spell.

STEP 03: When will you do it?

For some spells, you need to consider timing. It’s not always necessary, but it usually helps.

For example, if you’re doing a kind of positive spell or if you want to draw something into your life, you should use the power of the waxing moon.

 

On the other hand, if you want to push something away or get rid of old habits, it’s usually better to go for the waning phase.

Timing can also be about special days of the week. For example, Friday is generally known as Freya’s day – you know, the love and fertility goddess…

You could even go as far as choosing a specific month, but don’t go too crazy here.

It’s better to just get it done, than to wait for the perfect time (that could easily be in 5 years time when the moon is full, on a Thursday in August).

STEP 04: What needs to be said?

You know it.

WORDS HAVE POWER!

Decide if your ritual should include a chant or maybe you want to call upon your gods for help. You could also recite a poem that have a special meaning to you.

Or it could be that your spell requires complete silence. Only you will know!

THAT’S IT!

• What do you want?
• What do you need?
• When will you do it?
• What will you say?

Not really that hard is it?

Now, I know this is very simplified, but that’s the way I like it. Chances are that you (and I) will remember this easier when it’s boiled down to a few steps… (boiled down, heh)

Now, you could say that there is a fifth step. But that’s more something you’ll have to do afterwards…

Because, you should really write down how everything went when you are finished.

Maybe you need to correct some small things or maybe everything was just awesome and worked perfectly. But if you don’t write it down in your book of shadows, you’ll have a hard time figuring out what worked and what didn’t…

As a rule of thumb, you should see results within one lunar month (28 days).

Finally, remember the rule of 3 – be nice and be careful what you wish for, the universe can be tricky sometimes ;O)

One more thing…

…when I write my spells I like to wear my Pentacle of Spells. I find that it helps me focus and gives me a better connection to the universe and my goddess.

Unless my spell requires me to wear something specific, I also have it on me when I am casting it.

Finally, I just need to say that it doesn’t matter how good the spell is, you’ll need to do the ground work yourself.

I mean, you can sit at home casting spells all day long, but if you never send out your resumes or get out of the house, your chances of getting that dream job or meeting Mr. or Mrs. wonderful becomes very slim…

…so, use your spells as tools to help you, but don’t rely solely on them.
